In preparation for Rosh Hashana, we will begin our study of this great holiday with an introduction to the laws of Shofar blowing, what is a tekiya and what a teruah, why do we blow so many kolos, and when is a foreign kol an interruption (hefsek)? We will begin our study of the famous episode in Magence, quoted by the Rosh, and seek to understand the various opinions in that controversy.
