Description

The Mishna in Masechet Makot establishes that the death of the Kohen Gadol who was appointed before the Gmar Din of the Rotzeach alleviates the Rotzeach from Galus to the Ir Miklat. In this shiur w will try to understand why this Kohen Gadol, who was not in office until after the murder took place, is held responsible for the Gmar Din. The last part of the shiur will address the case of a Kohen Gadol who was deposed when evidence established that his Mother was a divorcee when she married his father (and the son of this marriage is disqualified from Kehuna). Does the Rotzeach gain freedom from Galus in such a case? We will analyze the two opinions on this issue.
