Description

In this shiur for PARSHAT RE'EH, we will study the verse in Devarim 12:5 "and you shall seek His Presence and come there". As we will see from the commentary of the Ramban, the motif of this verse is THE JEW IN SEARCH OF YERUSHALAYIM. We will see that this is an obligation incumbent upon every Jew to endeavor to locate Yerushalayim. Certain dimensions of this obligation repeat themselves over and over, e.g. Aliya L'Regel, the bringing of Bikurim, the Mitzva of eating Ma'aser Sheini in Yerushalayim, and in our times, the search for the Shechina in the "Mikdash Me'at". We will see how the personalities of the prophets Elkana and his son Shmuel embody this attribute of the gravitational pull to the Mikdash & the Shechina. This is leadership.
