Description

For Parshat Re'eh, we will study the verse: Do not hearken to the words of that prophet, i.e. the prophet that instructs us to worship Avoda Zarah. Whereas a prophet can instruct us to violate one of the other prohibitions of the Torah on a one-shat basis, Hora'at Sha'ah, the exception to the rule is Avodah Zara; the prophet who instructs us to worship Avoda Zara is a false prophet to be put to death. We will study the controversy bet Rambam & Ramban re this Lav & if it is counted. Our primary focus is to understand the fundamental dif. bet. A"Z and other prohibitions, & how Avodah Zarah for Jews is fundamentally different from A"Z for non-Jews. In this context, we will see that Emuna is the basis for the rel. bet. our People & Hashem.
