Description

The precise definition of Lo Tachmod, the last of the Aseret HaDibrot, is a matter of controversy. One desires his friend's object & schemes to cajole his friend to sell it to him. Tos' assumes that the money was not paid to the owner. The Ra'aved holds that despite the payment, since the owner never agreed to the sale, the Lav is violated. The Ramban maintains that even if the sale is valid, the issur is violated because the buyer pressured the seller because of his desire to obtain the object. Would the Lav apply if the desire led to the person buying the same article in the market? Would it apply when the groom pressures his future father-in-law to add more to the dowry? What if I see someone's wealth & desire to be wealthy like him?
