As part of our series on Mitzvot Bein Adam L'Chaveiro, we will analyze the obligation to respect one's parents, what is the nature of this mitzva, what is its definition, and to what extent does it apply? We will address the issue of kibbud for grandparents, is there such an obligation, and if there is, how is it fundamentally different from the obligation of a son vis-a-vis his father? We will try to reconcile some apparent contradictions in Rashi's position on this question.
