Description

From Derech Mitzvosecha of the Tzemach Tzedek, discourse of Ahavas Yisrael. How can a Jew literally love another Jew like himself? Each Jew contains within the DNA of the entire Jewish people. When the body is whole, pain is felt throughout, no matter where it originates. This is true of the Jewish people. When whole each Jew feels the pain of his fellow. When fractured no one feels the other's pain. In order to connect to God a Jew must look inside and connect to the entire Jewish people. Hate drives away the other contained within him and he becomes blemished. We love ourselves that we overlook our flaws and are not moved by them. However, we don't do the same for others. True love is the ability too overlook flaws and love anyways.
