Description

From Eder HaYakar of Rav Kook, pages 43-44 and 64. The hallmark of a true mashpia is one whose life is concurrent with Torah. This does not mean that he can learn really well or teach a flashy class. It means that the embodiment of his actions and words, exude the holiness and purity of Torah. The mashpia practices what he preaches. If there is a disconnect between the body and spirit of a person, then the influence of the person is tainted. The influenced can sense the fraudulent nature of the influencer. However, when a person has fused the holiness of Torah with his daily life, the influence is felt even without words and actions.
