Description

Chazal derive from a verse in Parshat Vayikra that a Jew who needs to bring a Korban but refuses to do so is compelled to bring the korban against his will. The Gemorah in Erchin establishes the principle that we force him until he says "Rotze Ani". The Rambam in Hilchos Gerushin, regarding the law that a husband can be compelled to deliver a divorce to his wife, explains the underlying philosphy behind this law of "Kofun Oso", namely, the uncontaminated, inner will of the Jew. In this shiur we will look at the many Meforshim that use this Rambam to explain a variety of important ideas, including the acceptance of the Torah by the Jewish Nation as a result of the mountain that was hovering over their heads. What role did Avraham Avinu play?
