Description

The universe can be divided into primary and secondary. Two examples: the peel of a fruit that protects the fruit. The secondary gains a status (the peel has a din of Ochlin as far as Kabalas Tumah is concerned) because of the Ikar - the fruit. Olam Haba gives significance to Olam HaZeh. Yitzchak appreciated Esau's role as a Tafel and was ready to bestow a blessing upon him. But Esau refused to recognize any sort of secondary role. He was blinded by his evil spirit and his conceited heart and despised Yaakov. In this shiur we will explain the deeper meaning behind Esau's tithing salt & marriage to Machlas, as well as the significance of the names of the two brothers. The Sochochover leaves us with important ethical messages for our lives.
