Description

In the episode of Eliezer's shlichut to bring back a wife for Yitzchok in Parshat Chayei Sarah, Eliezer is often described as the Eved, and often called the Ish. We can solve this riddle if we distinguish between the language of the Torah, on the one hand, & the expression of an individual whose declaration is recorded in the Torah, on the other. In this shiur we will also study the episode of Lot's daughters who desired to propagate the world, and performed what would otherwise be considered a repulsive act, but they did so for a greater goal. We will seek to define the concept of Aveira LiShma.
