How did Bilam succeed to bring about the near destruction of the Jewish nation? He was a "yodeah da'as elyon" & knew the secrets of Divine ruler-ship over this world. Nevertheless, his plan to defeat the Nation by means of cursing them was unsuccessful. Bilam realized that the Divine Being is protecting His people & his efforts to curse the people were in vain. Yet he pinpoints a moment in time which is propitious for a plan that will defeat the people. With this insight Bilam offers a recommendation to Balak which will threaten the very existence of the People of HaShem. What was so special about that moment?
