This shiur is an introduction to Pirke Avot. Why do we begin the study of Avot after Pesach? Why the name Avot? Why the custom to begin our study with the Mishna in Sanhedrin "Kol Yisrael Yesh LaHem Chelek"? How is the Messora of Halacha different than the Messora of Middot and Mussar? We will analyze the comments of the Bartenura, Tos' Yom Tov, Maharal MiPrag, and Rav Moshe Almoshnino on the opening Mishna in Avot, and we will quote from the Rav's Yahrtzeit shiur in memory of his great father zatzal.
