Description

This shiur will be dedicated to an analysis of Kedushat HaZman in the case of the coincidence of Shabbat & Pesach. We will study the insights of the early Achronim in defining the positive dimension of the fulfillment of "Shabbat LaShem". The commentaries Akedat Yitzchok [Rav Yitzchok Arama, 1420-1494], Sforno [Rav Ovadia Sforno, 1470-1550], and HaKsav ViHakabala [Rav Yaakov Mecklenburg, 1785-1865] will be studied. The shiur will address the centrality of the concept of Chipazon with regard to the Chag HaGeulah. The human duality of nefesh & guf emerges as the key challenge of Kedushat HaMoadim. Shabbat observance requires much more than abstention from labor. The world of Yisrael & her Divine service belongs to a realm of being above time.
