Description

This shiur will study the first Rambans in Parshat Mishpatim. Why are the mishpatim presented right after the Aseret HaDibrot? What is the nature of Lo Tachmod, and why do the mishpatim correspond to the last of the Dibrot? What does the Midrash mean when it says "the entire Torah depends on monetary laws"? Why are the judges called "Elohim"? This shiur will attempt to integrate many comments of the Ramban throughout his commentary on the Torah, the underlying theme is the complexity of Jewish Monetary law, the knowledge of God gained by a profound grasp of this part of the Torah, and the impossibility of a human judge - as great as he be - to be certain that his virdict is true unless God is presiding over the courtroom and directs him.
