Description

Is the birthright monetary or spiritual? Why did Esau sell the birthright? Why so much emphasis on eating meat? Why the parental love for Esau? Was Yitzchok rich or poor? What is the meaning of Rivka's response to her difficult pregnancy, "And Rivka went to seek Hashem"? These and other questions will be addressed by the Ramban on Toldot. We will try to see how the Ramban masters the understanding of the text, both individual words as well as context, and why and when the Ramban shifts his mode of study and seeks to reveal deeper psychological and spiritual aspects that lie deep below the surface.
