In Israel however, the custom is not to add to detract from the tachrichim. Therefore in answer to a question on this subject, Rav Tukachinski (Gesher Hachaim, part 2, 28:3) writes that if there is time to convert the kittel into the ktones garment of the tachrichim, it is proper to do so.</span></span></span></p>

However in the Belz Shul in Jerusalem, which is probably the largest shul in Eretz Yisroel and seats many thousands of worshippers, only the Belz Rebbe and the shaliach tzibur wear a kittel.
