Description

We will try to defend Rashi against the argument of the Ramban: why did Hashem tell Moshe to take the staff if His intention was for Moshe to speak to the stone not to hit it? We will present the Sforno's three categories of miracles & their respective purposes. Moshe was meant to perform two miracles, one thru speech, the second with the staff, & each miracle respectively would educate the people and bring them to rectify the sins. This will open a window to shed a new light on the interpretation of Rashi. What comes to light is a new perspective on Moshe's sin, one which we have not seen in the past. This will raise the question of leadership: can the leader lose faith in his people? Can a Navi believe that God changed His mind?
