in shulchan aruch yoreh de'ah 69, seif 4 it discusses openning chickens for salting because of the chelkei pnim, but the mishbetzos zahav mentions a part in the knoknos and calls it the reyah and says that since it is a seperate eiver it needs to be removed and salted seperately, if not it might assur the whole chicken (or even chulent) because of possible issur davuk. The thing is that I believe that the minhag in the USofA is to eat this piece whilst in Israel this is frowned upon but some hechsherim leave it while the machmir ones take it out - apparently the shevet halevi matirs it but I am confused! could you please clarify, is it hefsed meruba, bediavad, kosher lechaitchila??? Sholom Aleichem, Thank you very much for the shiur. Having done some research into the issue of wearing tcheiles, I would like to add what seems to be the primary reason most poskim today are not telling people to wear it. The fact is that for hundreds of years it was assumed that tcheiles was purposely hidden from us by Hashem and would only be brought back when Moshiach comes. This assumption is supported by the medrash tanchuma in shlach, the sifri in vzos abracha and kisvei haArizal. Although it is possible to interpret them differently this is the simple meaning and how it has been understood tradionally. Therefore says Tshuvos Yeshuos Malcho (OC 1,2,3) it would only be considered a safek to require us lehachmir if the was proof. Otherwise we continue with this assumtion (chazaka) as ein safek motzi meyedei vadai. R Elyashiv says to look in that tshuva and maybe this is included in his intention. Ifound in the back of Tshuvos R Chaim Berlin (in a response from the Radziner) that R Chaim Berlin also assumed this way. I am told that this is what R Chaim Kaneivsky tells those who ask him.
