<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">Ideally, a hat is not in place of a yarmulke but in addition to it (Mishnah Berurah 91:12; Piskei Teshuvos 2:10). There are thus two layers of covers on one&rsquo;s head during davening. At shacharis, the tallis covering one&rsquo;s head will be the second layer. This reminds me of the time when I attended a Chabad bris. Since those who were to receive kibudim were only wearing a yarmulke, one of the Ba&rsquo;alei Bris went around putting an additional yarmulke on the heads of these people.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">&nbsp;</span></p>
